I was the most nervous I’ve ever been in my life. This includes a heart surgery while I was wide awake nervous…

You see, when I was growing up in Red Deer, Alberta, I wanted to BE Bret “Hitman” Hart. I was fully wrapped up in WWF/WWE Television, and after seeing this guy from Calgary make it all the way to the top, I was convinced more than ever that my dreams were worth pursuing. This was before the internet was a thing, and you couldn’t just Google wrestling schools.

The answer? Go right to the source. I was volunteering for the local cable station, who was also an affiliate of WWF Pay-Per-Views. Under the guise of a TV interview, my #1 goal was to get some leads from Bret, Owen and/or Davey as to how I could get trained in the prestigious Hart Dungeon. After some convincing, the station let me take a camera and my buddy Dale, who was also a producer at the station, drove me down to Calgary to cover the WWF’s “In Your House: Canadian Stampede” Press Conference…
